We are pleased to inform you that ECOSISTEMAS is now formally included in the JCR with an initial impact factor of 0.7 for 2022. Specific rankings and descriptive data will be available from next year.

For those of you who have access to Web of Science, you can see it here.

The news of the extension of the Journal Impact Factor (JIF) to all journals that have passed the rigorous quality criteria of the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS), has been recently published by Clarivate in its blog.

ECOSISTEMAS was included in the ESCI (collection of quality journals in the process of evaluation to be included in WoS) in March 2016. In 2020 it entered the electronic Journal Citation Report. In 2022, for the first time it obtains the JIF, incorporating the 2020 and 2021 statistics for its estimation. Considering that the JIF is one of the most widely used metric indicators to value scientific journals, there is no doubt that this is an important milestone for the journal. Although the current trend in the evaluation of scientific activity is advocating not to put so much weight on this type of metric indicators (Leiden Manifesto and DORA), there is no doubt that the JIF is currently a weighty and credible tool to evaluate and compare the academic impact of quality journals worldwide, as well as an indicator of reliability of editorial practices. We would therefore like to share this important news with everyone.

Thank you very much to all of you for reading us and for contributing in some way to the community that integrates the journal ECOSISTEMAS.
